The bag plan for Trondheim-Oslo

New this year is that you can send a small bag of clothes with change to up to three food stations, i.e. Oppdal, Kvam and Hamar.

Here is the plan for shipping clothes bags for Trondheim-Oslo.

The bag freight is an addition to the normal baggage freight. You put luggage to Oslo as usual in one of our trucks in Trondheim before departure. It will then be driven to Oslo. The shipping of bags is a little more complicated.

Luggage is handed in to the trucks in Munkegata in Trondheim from 20-22 Friday evening. Baggage to be sent to Oslo can also be handed in before departure.

Handing in bags for bag shipping takes place at the same time and place, i.e. from 20-22 Friday evening in Munkegata in Trondheim.

This is the first year we have a system for bag shipping in Styrkeprøven . We do this to give you a better service since no one can bring a companion car with them anymore. There will probably be some problem running in since it is the first time we are doing this. We also hope that everyone will show understanding that this scheme is also completely new for the volunteer crew at the food station.

The bag shipping described here applies to everyone who is not in the team start. The team start is only the first nine starting groups.

The scheme

The scheme is that you can deliver up to 3 bags before the start in Trondheim. We transport these to the food stations in Oppdal, Kvam or Hamar, respectively, where you will receive your bag. When you have “used” the bag, we transport it to your destination where you get it back together with your luggage.

“Unused” bags will be left at the food station and transported in with the last bag truck leaving that food station. That means it can take a long time before you get your bag in Oslo if you don’t put it in the plastic bag for used bags at the food station.

The bags

The bag should be waterproof. It must be marked with a start number (clearly visible), name and mobile number so we can find out who owns it if the marking is lost. We also recommend that everyone put a note in the bag with their name and mobile number as an extra safeguard. We cannot take responsibility for nothing being lost along the way. To ensure that nothing can fall out, we recommend using packing bags/drybags like these:

The bags can weigh a maximum of 1.5 kg. There is limited space so we cannot transport other luggage or larger bags with the bag freight. This arrangement is for bags that can be packed small. We hope everyone can contribute to bag shipping being manageable by not bringing too much in the bags.

The bag must be marked with your start number. You will receive a note or tag that you can attach to the bag with a small strip when you collect your start number in Trondheim. Use a marker with the right color to write the start number on the tag to minimize the number of bags that were going to Kvam that end up in Oppdal etc.

Bag freight

You can therefore send a bag to each of the food stations in Oppdal, Kvam and Hamar. We have chosen Oppdal since many people will want to wear more clothes before going over the mountain. You can take off some clothes at Kvam or change into dry clothes and many will want to wear a warmer jacket or take off their sunglasses before they cycle the last stretch from Hamar into Oslo.

Bag to Oppdal must have a red color code

Bag for Kvam must have a blue color code

Bag for Hamar must have a green color code

The bags for each starting group and each food station are placed in separate large clear plastic bags before the start. There is one bag per starting group per food station. The plastic bags are marked with food station and starting group.

It is important that the bags arrive in the correct bags. We want your bag to be ready when you get to the food station, or at least for it to be easy to find. If it is in the wrong bag, it will take longer. And it doesn’t work if a bag going to Oppdal is put in a bag going to Kvam or the like.

When you have used the bag, it must not be put back in the same bag, but put together with the other “used” bags so that it is transported to Oslo. If it is put back in the same bag, we do not know that it has been “used” and then it is not transported to Oslo until the last rider has passed and the food station closes.

What you can have in the bags

Here is an example of what you may need. This depends on the weather so check the weather forecast before packing your bags.

Oppdal – windproof jacket or rain jacket, extra sweater if it’s cold, extra loose arms or legs.

Kvam – dry shirt, socks, gloves, an extra hose and an extra air cartridge

Hamar – warm jacket, warmer gloves, an extra hose and an extra air cartridge as well as an empty glasses case so you can leave your sunglasses without them breaking

You can of course also put a muesli bar or two and some gel in your bag, but don’t use the bags to carry drinks. Drink is heavy and if it leaks, the bags of all your other starting group can become sticky. Those who own the bags are unlikely to like it (and neither do we).
