Escort cars in Styrkeprøven

There is now an absolute ban on accompanying cars in Styrkeprøven for all participants, in all star pools and at all distances.

A few years ago there was a general ban on escort cars in Styrkeprøven . We as organizers have been strongly criticized for not enforcing this ban strictly enough. This year, in collaboration with the Police and the road authorities, we have therefore agreed to introduce additional measures. Without more measures and visible reactions as a result of the use of a follow-up car, Styrkeprøven will not be allowed to organize the race.

We must also be clear that there is no time penalty as a consequence of using an escort car, but disqualification from the race without notice.

In this context, by companion car we mean all cars that provide assistance to the riders. Cars that transport food, drinks, front cars, cars that transport clothes, cars that transport equipment, wheeled cars, cars that accept clothes or glasses etc. They are all companion cars. It does not matter if they follow the traffic and do not create queues or dangerous situations. They are companion cars.

Unfortunately, this is the situation we now have. The following cars must be completely removed so that the race can live.

The ride without accompanying cars

You will get food and drink at the food stations. Fortunately, it has been a long time since we served green bananas. We have nutritious food for everyone and we are refurbishing the food stations so that they will be able to accommodate those who previously had their own food vans.

We will also make a plan to have bags transported to at least two of the food stations so you can put on dry clothes or send the rain gear you used over the mountain to the finish line. More information about this to come.

The aim is to make the arrangement with food stations and transport of clothes bags so good that no one will miss the accompanying cars.

And for those who have thought that they must bring a companion car and are struggling to find a driver and car, this is good news. Now everyone will ride on equal terms and no accompanying cars will get in the way of you or others traveling between Trondheim and Oslo on the day of the ride.
