Jannicke Klepp was the fastest woman in the Jotunheimen Rundt. Now she is aiming for Trondheim-Oslo.

In July this year, Jannicke competed for the first time on the starting line during the Jotunheimen Rundt. She was excited about how her body would cope with Norway’s toughest road race.

– In this particular race, the focus was not on winning, but more on seeing what the body was capable of, since I had never cycled this far before, she says.

And the body turned out to be capable of far more than expected. Jannicke reached the finish line after less than 15 hours on the bike, thus crushing the female competitors.

– It was a great honor to be the first woman to finish, admits the 45-year-old.

How does one become as good as you?

– I think continuity has made me stronger in recent years.

Cry to the man

But the ride wasn’t just easy for the suntan. After about two miles she suddenly had trouble shifting.

At the service station in Fagernes, she got confirmation that the gear cable had broken, and suddenly the ride became much heavier.

– I call my husband, cry and explain what has happened, but then someone comes and asks if I want to borrow his bike, she says, and adds:

– Talk about luck!

Thus, she still made it all the way to the finish line, with good support from the sidelines.

– What made the most impression were all the nice boys along the way, who helped with both one and the other, she boasts , and continues:

– So many thanks for the loan of the bike, feeding, clothing and towing to the finish line. I am incredibly grateful and am left with only positive memories. I’m looking forward to next year!

– Trondheim-Oslo is on my bucket list

But it doesn’t stop here for the bike-loving sunbather.

– Trondheim-Oslo is on my “bucket list”, she admits.

And it is clearly a realistic goal for someone who is as fond of training as Jannicke.

– I couldn’t manage without it, she says.

ACTIVE: Jannicke loves to stay active. Photo: Private.

– It’s so good for the mood, and I’m completely addicted to the endorphins it releases.

She believes that the vast majority of people who like cycling will enjoy cycling.

– It is so wonderful to meet more people who are passionate about cycling, and it is a wonderful feeling to cross the finish line, she concludes.
