Styrkeprøven 2025

We want to organize the Styrkeprøven touring race during the weekend of 20. – 22. June next year. Historically, Styrkeprøven has been held on the weekend closest to St. Hans Eve, i.e. the third or fourth weekend in June. In 2025, the weekend of 20. – 22. June will be the third full weekend and the weekend closest to St. Hans Eve.

On Saturday 21. June 2025, the sun will rise in Trondheim as early as 03:02. 03:02, while the sunset in Oslo won’t happen until 22:43. We really hope for a bright and long summer day and night for all our participants, whether they start from Trondheim, Lillehammer or Eidsvoll.

An application was therefore submitted today to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to set the date for Styrkeprøven 2025 Styrkeprøven. Later this fall, we will formally apply to arrange Styrkeprøven, but hope that the road authorities will be able to approve the date for the race in 2025 within a reasonable time. It is important for us to set a date as early as possible due to bookings, reservations and information to our participants. However, we must reserve the date if the road authorities will not grant permission for our desired date or will not grant permission for the event.

In 2024, the participants from Trondheim took a new route from Hjerkinn on Dovrefjell via Folldal and Venabygdsfjellet to Ringebu. The route via Folldal and Venabygdsfjell was chosen to avoid the E6 north of Gudbrandsdalen (Dombås to Sjoa) where there are several stretches where cycling is prohibited. In addition, there is normally a lot of traffic on the E6 in Gudbrandsdalen, while there is no corresponding traffic on the roads that run from Hjerkinn via Folldal to Ringebu.

In addition, both the participants from Trondheim and Lillehammer used the west side of Lake Mjøsa (Biri, Gjøvik, Skreia and Feiring).

No significant changes to the route are planned for 2025. As the organizer, we were very pleased with the changes to the route that were made this year. We believe the vast majority of participants are too. Especially since there is significantly less traffic on the roads that now make up the route.

What we will investigate further and consider whether any changes should be made is as follows:

  • The section from Eidsvoll to Dal. Alternative to using Finstadvegen, which is not particularly suitable for cycling due to many cracks and irregularities in the road surface.
  • Location of the finish and where the time in the ride is stopped.

In addition, we have received a lot of good feedback from the participants in 2024. We will, of course, take some of this feedback with us in our planning work and hopefully it will help to make our event even better in 2025.

Registration for Styrkeprøven 2025 opens at the beginning of October this year. We welcome everyone!
