Removing the seriousness and aiming for 2025: – It will be a trip, not racing

Follo SK and Drøbak SK have made exciting plans for the coming year. They will bring together cycling enthusiasts in the area to carry out the world’s longest and oldest touring race.

Christian Askildsen and Jørgen Feldt are captains of the upcoming team, and are now working to expand the group. So far, 26 people have already signed up.

Three categories

– “We’re trying to come up with a plan that’s more in the direction of touring than racing,” says Jørgen, who is an experienced cyclist himself.

He thinks you fit into the project if you belong to one of these three categories:

  1. “Enough with the rider”: Horror of horrors, but you’ve got Trondheim – Oslo on your bucket list and you’re wondering how you’re going to do it.
  2. “Helper rider: I can do that, and I can help a little bit as the locomotive of the group.
  3. “Locomotive”: I can be a locomotive for the group and give others the opportunity to cross Trondheim – Oslo off their bucket list.
READY: On Wednesday, September 25, eager cyclists met for an info meeting about the project. You’ll probably see many of these faces on the starting line in Trondheim in a few months’ time.

The goal

Jørgen explains that the team’s goal is to cycle Trondheim – Oslo in between 17 and 18 hours.

– This implies an average speed of around 31 km/h, which should be realistic for many people to achieve,” he says.

The plan is to have 5-6 pairs of “traction locomotives” that can work at the front for longer periods. These will ensure a stable speed. The rest will be at the back in “comfort wagons” and will be pulled along on the trip.

After 520 kilometers and 4600 meters of altitude from Trondheim, hopefully a wild feeling of mastery remains in the finish area in Oslo.

We at Styrkeprøven will be ready to welcome you and wish you good luck on your journey!
