Many people have been a little worried about the asphalt quality along Lake Mjøsa ahead of this year’s edition of Styrkeprøven. Fortunately, there is now very good news for both riders and organizers:

An approximately 9-kilometer stretch of county road 33 north of Feiring on the eastern side of Lake Mjøsa is now being milled and repaved before this summer’s big cycling festival.

The work is already well underway. The milling started on May 18 and was completed on Thursday 28. May. Paving started on Tuesday, May 26 and is scheduled to be completed on Friday, June 5 – assuming fair weather and normal operation of machinery and equipment.

This means that participants can look forward to a far better cycling experience through the area north of Feiring, with smoother surfaces and increased comfort on an important part of the route between Lillehammer and Oslo.

The section being upgraded is located along fv. 33 on the eastern side of Lake Mjøsa and includes sections where many cyclists have reported worn and uneven asphalt. The work is being carried out by the county’s asphalt contractor, and the measure comes at a very opportune time just before thousands of cyclists embark on the traditional Styrkeprøven around Lake Mjøsa.

– An even more enjoyable experience along Lake Mjøsa

There is little doubt that this will be well received. A number of people have expressed concern about certain sections along Lake Mjøsa, and now it turns out that an important part of the route will get a real boost in time for the race.

Unfortunately, there is still some bad asphalt south of Feiring, but this year’s paving is at least a significant boost for this stretch. And with new asphalt, a great view of Lake Mjøsa and a summer atmosphere, everything is in place for a great edition of Lillehammer-Oslo.
